New York Scout interprets Esperanto
Bear cub scout Jonah Alexander has received an Interpreter Strip for Esperanto. This is an official BSA insignia which indicates that the scout can interpret the language in question, should the need arise. To receive the insignia, Jonah had to have a five minute conversation in Esperanto, interpret a two-minute address, write a letter, and show that he can read a short book in Esperanto. Both he and his father (Thomas Alexander) received the Interpreter Strip in the Spring of 2008, while Jonah was a Wolf Cub Scout with pack 321 in Greece, New York.
