La projekto pri fakgrupoj estas viva kaj bona. Ni komencas registri novajn grupojn, en kiuj oni povas kunhavigi interesojn kaj spertojn per Esperanto sen esti limigita al geografia loko.

Estas pluraj kialoj, pro kiuj Esperanto-USA registras fakgrupojn.

1. Ni sekvas la celojn deklaritajn en niaj statutoj por subteni la Esperantan komunumon en Usono. Per fakgrupoj ni povas helpi en la “disvastigo de informoj pri la internacia helplingvo Esperanto en Usono”.

2. Fakgrupoj estas maniero per kiu membroj de Esperanto-USA povas aktiviĝi en Esperanto eĉ se ili ne havas proksimajn lokajn grupojn.

3. Fakgrupoj estas maniero por propagandi Esperanton. Se oni estas en ne-Esperanta grupo de amikoj kun la samaj interesoj, oni povas interŝanĝi ideojn kaj agadojn kun esperantistaj kaj ne-esperantistaj amikoj. Tio montras la utilecon de Esperanto kaj plivastigas la amplekson de konscio pri nia lingvo.

4. Ekzistas fakaj asocioj en UEA, sed ni havas membrojn kiuj ĵus komencis lerni Esperanton kaj ankoraŭ ne estas membroj de UEA. Fakgrupoj estas organiza strukturo por ke membroj povu uzi Esperanton kaj esti aktivaj en ŝatokupoj aŭ iniciatoj de sia elekto sen postulo uzi Esperanton la tutan tempon aŭ esti plena membro de UEA. La fokuso de niaj fakgrupoj estas la Esperanto-komunumo en Usono, kvankam ni ne postulas, ke oni estu usona civitano.

The project for Special Interest Groups is alive and well. We are getting new groups started in areas where we can share our interests and experiences in Esperanto without constraining groups to their location.

There are several reasons why Esperanto USA is registering Special Interest Groups.

1. In Esperanto-USA we are following our purposes stated in our bylaws to support the Esperanto community in the United States. With SIGs we can help in the “dissemination of information about the international auxiliary language Esperanto within the United States of America.”.

2. SIGs are a way for a member of Esperanto-USA to be active in Esperanto even if they do not have a nearby local group.

3. SIGs are a way to promote Esperanto. That’s right. If you are in a non-Esperanto group of friends with the same interests, you can share ideas and activities between your Esperanto and non-Esperanto friends. This shows the usefulness of Esperanto and widens the scope of awareness of our language.

4. There are SIGs in UEA, but we have members who are just starting to learn Esperanto and are not yet members of UEA. SIGs are a structure for members to use Esperanto and be active in a hobby or initiative of their choice without having to use Esperanto all the time or be a full member of UEA. Our SIGs are focused on the Esperanto community in the USA, although citizenship is not required.
