Treasurer’s Update
Murray is Treasurer of E-USA. You can contact him at mmmm0320 at gmail dot com.
I am a member of Esperanto-USA. As Treasurer, that should be self-evident. What I mean is that I use the services provided by E-USA as any other member would. Just last week I paid my registration for the 2020 Universala Kongreso in Montreal on the E-USA website.
I am a member because I wanted to be a part of something I thought was important and helpful to me. Belonging meant I was not alone in my interests and my concerns, had a ready resource, was in touch with the movement, supported Esperanto in the USA and was connected with other Esperantists. Maybe you have similar reasons.
I was born in Canada and lived in Winnipeg and Toronto. While French is one of the two official languages of the country, other foreign languages and accents abound. In “the states,” there is not that diversity; although Spanish is becoming prevalent, there is not much need to go beyond English.
As Esperantists in the USA, we see the value of Esperanto in international communication, but we are like lone wolves in the wild. In many cases it is not used in our families or communities. With Esperanto-USA we have a centralized resource to support and connect us and we have an organization to make others aware of the language. It is a resource we can turn to when we have a need. We are not alone.
By joining or renewing your membership you can continue to have Esperanto-USA support your Esperanto aspirations. E-USA has a number of membership options ranging from Introductory to Lifetime. (You can even put E-USA in your will!)
We, on the Board, hope that we meet your personal expectations as we continue our efforts to support Esperanto in the USA. If you have questions or suggestions, let a Board member know.
