Both Esperanto-USA and the Esperantic Studies Foundation need and appreciate your donations. Which organization should you donate to? The short answer is “you should donate to both,” because each organization has its specific purposes.

Esperanto-USA

Esperanto-USA (incorporated as The Esperanto League for North America) is a membership organization whose bylaws define its purposes as follows.

The Esperanto League for North America, Inc. is constituted as a not-for-profit educational organization, whose primary purpose is to further education in, and dissemination of information about, the international auxiliary language Esperanto within the United States of America.

Esperantic Studies Foundation

The Esperantic Studies Foundation is a private foundation who has funded many of the tools, resources and websites that the Esperanto community uses. Some of these resources that you may have used are:

Although the Foundation is not an Esperanto organization, it works closely with Esperanto-USA and currently matches donations made to Esperanto-USA.

The Foundation has a priority to conserve our Esperanto heritage by providing a home of books and valuable documents, so they are not discarded, by organizing their placement in the Firestone Library at Princeton or the W. E. B. Du Bois Library at UMass or somewhere else as appropriate.

As you can see, the work of both organizations deserves your financial support and we ask you to consider donating what you can, when you can, with monthly sustain donations or as an annual gift.
