The 2024 Usona Kongreso de Esperanto in Los Angeles promises a vibrant mix of educational opportunities, fun experiences, and community building. This year will be a celebration of the impact Esperanto has had on films, tv, and science fiction and feature a diverse array of lectures, workshops, and social events.

Conference Highlights

Lectures and Workshops: Attendees will engage in various sessions designed to deepen their understanding of Esperanto. Topics will range from engaging sessions of history to group cooking workshops to practice your Esperanto in everyday life.

Beach Dinner Party: A quintessential Southern California experience, this social event will allow participants to relax and connect against the backdrop of a stunning sunset.

Mini-NASK Course: For post-beginners and intermediate Esperantists, the Mini-NASK offers intensive learning with sessions on Friday afternoon and Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Pre- and Post-Conference Excursions: Starting July 8 and extending through July 16, attendees can join excursions exploring iconic Southern California landmarks. Highlights include:

  • Cheering on the Los Angeles Angels baseball team as they take on the Texas Rangers.
  • Touring Hollywood, Chinatown, Griffith Park Observatory, and more in a day trip to Los Angeles.
  • Enjoying the magic of Disneyland.
  • Discovering the beauty of the quaint island getaway, Catalina Island
  • Exploring the historical Queen Mary with a private ham radio demonstration.
  • Being mesmerized by beautiful underwater creatures at the Aquarium of the Pacific

California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA, boasts one of the largest Esperanto archives in the United States, offering attendees a unique opportunity to delve into the language’s rich history. The university’s sustainable design and beautiful campus spaces provide a serene setting for the conference.

Registration is still open until the beginning of the conference. For seasoned Esperantists and those new to the language, the 2024 Usona Kongreso will be a great opportunity to connect, grow, and be immersed in the rich culture of Esperanto.
