On June 4th, 2016, Stanford University hosted a local exam session of the Worldwide Esperanto Exam Day. The participants joined the ranks of more than 1500 Esperanto-speakers worldwide who have taken the Council of Europe’s international foreign language exams (KER). These exams provide a certified language diploma, accepted officially throughout Europe, in one of three levels: basic, intermediate & advanced. Since 2008, Esperanto-speakers in more than 60 countries have successfully passed the exam.

The KER exam is offered at three levels: B1 (basic), B2 (intermediate), and C1 (advanced). The KER web pages at edukado.net offer a complete description of the exam, how it is graded, and the different material covered at each level.
