Usona Esperantisto № 2018:4 (jul-aug)

New Tools for Communication

Lasta ĝisdatigo: 2018-08-31

To strengthen our communication infrastructure and improve our relations with our members, the Board of Directors of Esperanto-USA is launching a new series of webinars and AMA sessions.

The webinar is an online session in which one or more leaders present a topic. Then the members of the audience can ask questions about that topic. Sometimes the leader will set up a question for which the participants can vote. Webinars are up to one hour long and are informational about what is taking place in Esperanto-USA.

We are now working on many plans, projects, and initiatives. We will give information about the work as effectively as possible to our membership. As always, our main and official organ to inform our membership is this newsletter, Usona Esperantisto. The webinar is another information tool that supports and broadens the information in Usona Esperantisto. However, the main information platform remains Usona Esperantisto.

The next webinar will be about our annual report (La Jarraporto), which reflects our challenges, plans, current tasks, etc. You will learn what we are doing. You can ask questions during the webinar.

To prepare yourself for this next webinar, please read the annual report of Esperanto-USA (“Jarraporto”). It will be found under About usDocuments on our website.

AMA — “Ask Me Anything”

The AMA is a text communication tool. A leader can present material, but the main idea is to respond to questions. Participants have the right to enter questions during the hour or even beforehand once the session has been announced. The questions can be anything! The leader can begin with an explanation of a subject, but the questions can be related to other topics.

There is a great difference between the webinar and an AMA. A webinar is a live session with a camera and a microphone. It’s a defined theme. An AMA is a text system. Questions and answers are typed, but the participants’ questions are about anything.

Times for these sessions:

  • 7:00 pm (Central time zone)
  • 8:00 pm (Eastern time zone)
  • 5:00 pm (Pacific time zone)

All take place on Thursdays:

  • Sep 13, 2018: Webinar, pri la Jarraporto de Esperanto-USA. La sesio okazos en Esperanto.
  • Sep 20, 2018: AMA
  • Sep 27, 2018: Webinar
  • Oct 11, 2018: Webinar
  • Oct 25, 2018: AMA

Onward and Upward!
