RECOGNITION BY HOWARD UNT'VIRSITY
Howard University, Washington, D. C, has
a voluntary class for second semester of
1933-34 in the Department of Romance Lang-
uages schedule.  Class meets two hours
weekly with ten enrolled members excell-
ently prepared through previous linguistic

ROTARY-ESPERANTO APPOIKTJvIENT

S-ro Gilbert Nickel, who is Supt. of
Schools in Middletown, Delaware, not only
corresponds with samideanoj in sixty dif-
ferent countries, but has been requested
to represent the Rotary Clubs of the
United States for the ROTARIA AMIKECO.
Headquarters of this Rotarian internat-
ional organization are at Arnhrm, Holland;
president is Doktoro P. W. Heihuizen.
***Rotary Esperanto-Amikaro recommends
that each Rotary Club should have at least
one member who can use Esperanto both in
interpreting and correspondence.  The
Service Committee of Rotary International
(211 West Wacker Drive, Chicago) has ag-
reed that Esperanto stands the best chance
of general adoption. Esperanto was used
in Rotary's Swiss Summer Camps, it is
reported.
SEATTLE (Wash,)-The Secretary of the Skep-
tic's Club, S-ro Haakon Lindjord, 316 West
70th St., advises that plans are afoot to
adopt Esperanto as the official club lang-
uage....The Public Service Journal for
January 5, carried a most complete article
on Esperanto by F, R. Carlson, president
of the Forth End group: SELVO. The other
Seattle Esp. Society is headed by W. G.
Adams of the Police Department.

FLORIDA ESPERAlfTO CLUB
A Green Star Club has been organized at
the fashionable Adirondack-Florida School
for Boys, Coconut Grove, Fla„, under dir-
ection of Prof. John Niemeyer, following
an address there by General Secretary
Gaines of SANA.
Other groups reached were Dr. Kaplan's
philosophy class at the University of
Miami; the Women's City Club and the Unity
Center, All four lectures were arranged
by Dr. Lydia DeVilbiss, local Esperanto
leader. The Miami News provided publicity,
ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA - as announced in
"The Independent" on Feb» 8th, an Esperan-
to Class is organizing under S-ro Fisher,
514 South 7" Street, who is past president
of EANA. S-ro Fisher is the author of
"ESPERANTO", - an important article which
appesred recently in The Sibley Journal,
reaching Cornell University engineer
graduates.
