THE GREAT INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND ESPERANTO
International congresses are more and more Inconvenienced by the language
difficulty. It is therefore not at all astonishing that increasing interest is taken in
international circles in Esperanto. It is regarded as a means of remedying an insur-
mountable obstacle.
The congress of the World Federation of Educational Societies, held in Toronto
last August, unanimously adopted a resolution relating to the employment of the
auxiliary language in congresses and instructed a committee to make a thorough
study of the problem.
The Committee of the Union of Bulgarian railwayman published in its official
organ in December, 1927 a decision of the Union in the following terms: The Union
decides:
a)    to introduce in its organ a column relating to Esperanto with a view to in-
teresting its members in the study of the language and informing its colleagues
abroad of the principal results of its activity;
b)   at the earliest possible date to employ Esperanto as the sole language for
international correspondence with the office of the Union.
The Hungarian section of the Touring Association "Lovers of Nature" adopted
at its annual meeting in Budapest in February, 192 8 a resolution:
1)   to recommend to the next international congress of the Lovers of Nature the
study of Esperanto by all its members.
2)   the opening of Esperanto courses in all the groups and sections.
3)   the use of Esperanto for organizing relations with foreign  groups.
4)   the introduction of a regular Esperanto column in the official organ.

SCHOOL OF ESPERANTO AT MADISON
Mr. Glenn P. Turner, Chairman of the Congress Committee, has arranged a
School of Esperanto to start June the 26th at Madison in preparation for the Con-
gress. Secretary Barnes will conduct the school. Two classes will be formed, one
for beginners, and one for advanced learners. The conditions for membership in
these classes is membership in E. A. N. A. and subscription to Amerika Esperan-
tisto. This school should create a fine atmosphere and increase the enthusiasm
in preparation for our Congress. Possibly the idea may develop into a regular
feature of our annual Congress. If so, undoubtedly many more persons would be
induced to attend the Congress. The classes will meet daily, and all delegates
coming to attend the Congress are invited to arrive in time to participate in
these classes, if not for the full time, at least for a few days previous to the regular
opening of the Congress.------------------------
MILWAUKEE  AND CHICAGO TO HOED PRE-CONGRESS MEETINGS
They have invited Secretary Barnes to attend these meetings. The Secretary
will spend Saturday and Saturday evening, June 2 3rd, with the Milwaukee group,
and go on te Chicago, Sunday, where a meeting has been planned at the Maxwell
Restaurant, 3 5 Van Buren Street, for Monday evening, at 8 o'clock.
To Antwerp. We have not been informed of the number who will go to
Antwerp for the 20th Annual Congress of U. E. A., but we know that our President,
Prof. Henry W. Hetzel of Philadelphia, is going; also Prof. F. A. Haman of Wis-
consin; Mrs.. Ida M. Sorensen of Port Richmond, N. Y.; Chas. Chomette of Long
Island City; Mrs. Dagmar Bagger of New York City; and we think also, Mr. and
Mrs. D. A. Parrish of Buffalo. Doubtless there are many others of whom we have
not learned.                                      ------------------------

En la profunda maro la premo de la akvo estas tre forta. Pro tiu premo
profund-maraj animaloj iafoje renkontas strangan akcidenton, kiu neniam trafas
alian beston en la mondo—Hi suprenfalas. La plimulto el la flŝoj havas naĝ—aŭ aer-
vizikon, kiu enhavas gason kaj ebligas al la fiŝo sin akomodi al diversaj profundoj.
Se ĝl naĝas profunde ĝi per specialaj muskoloj kuntiras la vezikon, car malgranda
veziko kompreneble havas malpli fortan levpovon ol granda veziko. Aliflanke, se ĝi
volas supreniri ĝi pligrandigas la vezikon. Sed tiu 6i pligrandigo devas okazi tre
grade, kaj se profundmara fiŝo, ĉasante sian viktimon, leviĝas tro alten aŭ tro
rapide, ĝia naĝveziko tiom ekspansias ke ĝi ne estas kontrolebla de la muskoloj. La
fiŝo tial ne povas naĝi malsupren al la fundo, sed nevole leviĝas, kiel aerplena botelo,
pli kaj pli rapide, ĝis ĝi atingas la surfacon de la akvo, ordinare senviva, kun korpo

"With a knowledge of English, German and French the chemist is pretty well
equipped, and he will then find that he can, when necessity demands, tackle articles
in Italian, Spanish, Dutch, etc. with more success than he is likely to expect. Some
important chemical literature exists in Russian and Japanese but these languages
most of us may never hope to master.
A small amount of chemical literature has appeared in Esperanto, and it is quite
possible that some day international abstracts will be published and international
chemical congresses will be held in some easily learned auxiliary language.
Esperanto has so many more adherents than any similar idiom and has demonstrated
its practicability in so many ways that it seems likely to remain the leader in this
field.

somera Tendaro, en la ŝtato, Kansas, Usono, al la skoltoj, kaj ankafl tiuj kiuj volis
fariĝi skoltestroj. La tendaro trovis sin ĉe Bubalo Monteto. &i estis tre malbona
loko, car la tendoj mem estis lokitaj sur tre alta grundo, dum la manĝoĉambro kaj
la administra oflcejo estis malsupre sur la bordo de tre profunda rivero, kaj sub
densa arbaro.
Mia liteto trovis sin en la plej granda tendo, tre proksime al la norda mure
Dum varmegaj noktoj la tendmuroj estis levitaj supren por enlasi la freŝan aeron;
sed nun, en la pluvaj tagoj, meze de 1'templimo de la tendaro, kelkaj estis hokitaj
al la tero. Meze de la nokto mi vekiĝis. La akvo gutis tra l'truoj en la tendo
rekte sur mian vlzaĝon! Mi tuj decidis movi mian liteton for de la muro; sed, ho
ve! kiam mi penis ellitiga la du kruckruroj de la liteto falis en la koton sub la muro
kaj mi trovin min jetita inter la liteto kaj la muro kaj povis iel eltiri min. La akvo
fluis de la supro de la tendmuro rekte sur min. O, tiu malvarna bano "Sub la mez-
nokta  pluvo!"
Mi laŭte vokis helpon; "Helpu,—helpu min! Mi dronas!" Mi sentis min kiel
rato en akvokaptilo. Mi estis saturita de l'malvarmega akvo! Ili venis, laŭte
ridegantaj, kaj eltiris min. Dum mi sekigis min; la vento kreskis, kaj fariĝis vera
ventego kin forblovis nian tendon! 6M talis sur nin, kaj ni ĉiuj devis elrampi el sub
la falinta velajo, kaj trovi ŝirmejon kie ajn ni povis. Ni-opiniis ke vc-re venis "La
Lasta Tago" por ni! Sed tio ne estis ankoraŭ ĉio. La venontan vesperon estis
"Stunt Night) (t. e. ŝerclundanta Nokto;") kiam ĉiu, povas devas fari ŝercludon
antaŭ la ceestantoj.
Dum ni sidis ĉirkaŭ la granda muĝanta fajrego, ni tre ĝojis la sporton. Ni
ridis ni ridegis ĝis ni preskaŭ rompis al ni la ripojn pro Li komikaj, kaj groteskaj
movoj de la knaboj. Trl liorojn de reala sporto, ambafi amuza kaj instrua; sed,
ho ve, ho ve! dum tiu tempo iu rampŝtelisto eniris la oflcejon kaj ŝtelis la tutan
monon kiun ĉiu havis en la gardsranko! Oni diris ke li prenis ĉirkaŭ okeent da
dolaroj. La venontan matenon ni devis.—malsuprentiri la tendojn por iri hejmen.
La tendaro estis jam preskafl disl'rakasita pro la pluvo kaj la ventego; kaj finance
rompita pro la perdo de eies mono!
Dum preskafl la tuta tago pluvis torente. La tendoj estis pezaj pro la akvo;
la tero mola kaj kota, tiel ke ĉe ĉiu paŝo niaj ŝuoj malaperis sub la koto. La
rapldege fluanta rivero superfluis la bordojn. La malgranda kajo, kiu estis nur
flotanta trotuaro farita el pezaj plankoj ligitaj kune, kaj flksitaj al granda arbo
per ŝnurego, subakviĝis. Tial ni devis malligi gin kaj treni pli alten sur la bordon,
por ke ni povu atingi ĝin. Ni ne povus forlasi la kampon alie ol per boato. Ni
devis ne perdi la solan boaton kiun ni posedis; nek la kajon, car tiam ni vere estus
forlasitaj sur insulo, en la nokta pluvo. ŝarĝo post ŝarĝo de la malsekaj tendoj
estis transportita trans la rivero. Tiam la knaboj eklris. La motorboato ne estis
tro granda, tial nur kelkaj da knaboj povis eniri, ĝin samtempe. Ml estis inter la lastaj.
Kiam la motorboato fornaĝis malsupren sur la rivero, mi regardis posten kaj ek
vidis ke la kajo sekvas nin. Evidente ĝi disŝiris la ŝnuregon for de la arbo kaj
fornaĝis de la malbenita tendaro post ni! Mi tuj donis la alarmon kaj la knaboj
sekvis la kajon, kaptis kaj surterigis ĝin.
Kiam ni ĉiuj atingis la sekan teron,—ad pli prefere diri, la kotan teron ni
trovis ke la torento forviŝis la relojn de la fervojo; tial ni devis iri ĉirkanen ĝis
ni trovis pli altan teron, kaj alian fervojon. Tie ni trovis vagonaron, goje sur-
saltis, ekiris; sed irinte ĉirkau kvindek mejlojn ni trovis la relojn subakvigitaj,
kaj la vojon tute ne transpaseblan. Fi! fl. Nun ni devis iri malantaflen, al alia
fervojo, kaj  fine atingis Topekan.
En Topeka estas mia hejmo; sed ne de la aliaj. La superakvo estis jam alta;
la fervojaj vagonaroj ne povis eliri pro tio, kaj la knaboj devis atendi ĝis la sub-
leviĝo de la alta akvo antafl ol ill povis veturi hejmen. Kelkaj de Hi restis ĉe mi
dum la nokto. Mi ne havis suflĉe da litoj por ĉiuj, kaj iuj devis dormi (afl kvazafl
dormi)  sur la planko.    Tamen ili estis dankemaj pro ia lito post tiaj spertoj!

Naskiĝis naŭan de Sept. 1828—Mortis 20an Nov. 1910
La tolstojan jarcenton festas homoj en ĉiu parto de la mondo. La mondkonata
verkisto fariĝis eminentulo unue kiel literaturisto, poste kiel bumanisto. Kvankam
mem nobelo li forte batalis por la rajtoj de la popoloj. Inter la fortaj homoj de la
jarcento li leviĝis granda impona figuro.    Milionoj lin honoras.
En Anglujo kaj en Usono fondiĝis societo por la publikigado de plena eldono de
la tolstojaj verkajoj enhavanta tridek kvin volumojn.
Ankaŭ Tolstoj estis Esperantisto. Studinte la gramatikon kaj la vortaron nur
kelkajn horojn li povis facile legi esperanton tekston. Pro tio ni ĝojas atentigi nian
legantaron al la okazonta naskotago.

TOLSTOJ KAJ LA LCYlVERSALA VERO
La instruo de Tolstoj funde respondas al ni je la demando: "Klon ni 1'aru?" en
nia vivo interna kaj socia. Tolstoj ĉiam nin admonas pri la unua kaj plej grava
demando, pri kiu neniam oni devas forgesi kaj per kiu ni devus komenci ĉiun nian
tagon (por kelkaj homoj per ĝi komenciĝas la ŝanfo de la tuta-vivo). ĉi-tiu demando
estas jena: "Pro kio mi vivas?" "En kio kuŝas la senco kaj la ĉefafero de mia vivo?"
"ĉu ml faras tion, kion ml devus fari?"
Tolstoj helpas nin respondi tion. Sed li nur helpas. Li trudas al ni nenian
katehismon, nenian programon. Ni devas serĉi libere la vojon de la vivo. Ni tiel
kutimiĝis, ke onl al ni enmanigu aŭ surpaperigu la pretajn respondojn. Ni tiel
kutimiĝis esti papagoj de programoj kaj katehismoj. Oni devas estl libera kiel
Tolstoj, oni devas esti sen antaŭjugoj de kia ajn speco. Kaj se ni devus serĉi la
respondon en tiu plej granda homa saĝo, kies esenco estas ĉiam la sama en la tuta
homaro, ni antaŭ ĉio-ĉi devus serĉi ĝin en la libera, supera voĉo de nia propra animo,
kaj kontroli ĉion per ĝi.
Kiam aperis Tolstoj, paroll pri Dio estis ankaŭ nelaŭscience, maldec en la
klera societo. Sed por Tolstoj neniaj sciencaj, kiel ankafl ekleziaj, kiel ankaŭ nacie-
caj, ankaŭ politikaj antaŭjuĝoj havis signifon. Lia penso ĉiam libere kaj kuraĝe
iris sian vojon, ne atentate pri la atakoj kaj ofendoj de la dekstro kaj de maldekstro
de ĉiuj flankoj. Li opiniis ke, kiel el ĉio cetera, tiel ankaŭ el la scienco oni ne devas
fari fetiĉon La scienculo, ne kleriĝinta per la moralaj ideoj, estas pll terura ol pro-
fanulo. La agado de tiom da nuntempaj scienculoj, okupiĝantaj pri la preparo de
sufokgasoj,—ĉu do tio ne estas manifestajo de la mallumo, de la morala profano?
La scienco ne estas la gvidilo por la homa vivo. Almenaŭ ĝis nun ĝi ne estis
tio.    La scienco estas tranĉilo per kiu oni povas tranĉi panon kaj murdi homon.
La plimulto el la scienculoj ne konas la ĉefan sciencon, la sciencon pri tio, kia-
maniere vivi en amo kaj en frateco kun ĉiuj homoj kaj kun ĉiuj estajoj. Ili ne scias
pri ĝi kaj ne pensas pri ĝi. Ilia scienco, ilia agado troviĝas ekster tio. Dume, ĝi
devus esti la fundamento por la vivo de ĉiu homo.
Jen do kial Tolstoj kuraĝe senmaskigis la idolan adoradon de la scienco, kiel
ankaŭ ĉian idoladoradon.
Li riproĉis, ke la scienculoj dum tuta vivo okupiĝas pri studo de diversaj kok-
cineloj, ne pensante pri la ĉefaĵo. Li parolis, ke ili penas nombri ĉiujn stelojn en
ia x^akta  vrojo, kaj pri la cefajo forgesas.
Egmont (Beethoven) estis heroo. Li estis la tragedia viktimo de la despotismo,
heroo, punita pro la flrmeco de siaj konvinkoj, tamen li mem ankaŭ mortiganta per
sia glavo la homojn en la bataloj,—heroo ne de Tolstoja spirito. La Beethovena
uverturo tamen estas plena je tiu ĝenerala heroeca humoro, kiu alten levas la animon
kaj vokas al abnegacio pro al supera celo.
Egmont estis heroo de la malnova mondo. La instruo de Tolstoj helpas la aperon
de herooj de la nova mondo.
Kaj  ni vidas ĉiam pli kaj pli da aperantaj  meze de la homaro  herooj,  plenaj je
nova spirito.
Inter ili estas herooj de la vorto—verkistoj, pensuloj, poetoj—grandaj kaj mal-
grandaj, luktantaj por novaj idealoj per heroa kuraĝo kaj persisto.
La vero venas en la mondon kaj la flguroj de la herooj de la nova heroismo
anstataŭas la figurojn de la malnova, de la sovaĝa blinda heroeco kun armiloj kaj
paflloj.
La heroismo kun la bajonetoj kaj gasoj—ĝi estas la malnova, formortanta
mondo de la kruelo kaj de la sovaĝeco. La nova mondo frapas sur la pordon, kaj
Tolstoj iras antaŭ ĉiuj al ĝi kaj gvidas nin post sin.
Mi ne intencas ĉi tie paroli pri la socia, agrara, laborista problemoj el Tolstoja
vidpunkto. Tolstoj esprimis sin pri ĉio, mi tamen ne povas ĉi-momente ampleksi ĉion.
Mi nur diros, ke se la liomoj komencos frate konstrui la vivon, konstrui la vivon sul-
ci tiun fundamenton, pri kiu parolis Tolstoj, ili trovos la manieron plej praktike solvi
ĉi tiujn demandojn.
La problemoj de la materiala vivo havas sendube, grandegan signifon, sed ĉe la
homoj speciale devus disvolviĝi la ĉefa forto—la forto spirita, por ke ankaŭ ĉio
materiala servu al la afero de la frateco.
Kiun povon antaŭ ĉio oni disvolvigu ĉe si? Kiun potencon oni kulturu ĉe sin
kaj en la mondon—ĉu la autoritaton de la amo aŭ la autoritaton de la perforto, de la
malamo, de la reciproka interbatalo?—jen la plej grava problemo, la plej granda
tasko, kiu nin antaŭstaras.

La instruo de Tolstoj diras: "Se la vivo en la mondo estus konstruita sur la
leĝo de la amo, de la unuiĝo,—la homoj vlvus t'eliee, kiel t'ratoj, kaj eĉ ne unu haro
de kies ajn kapo falus per la mano de la homfrato." Kaj la evoluo de la volado de
la homoj kaj de la popoloj al la aktiva efektivigo de tiu instruo havas decidigan
signifon.
Do, ni havas grandan gvidanton nin kondukantan al la lumo kaj al la feliĉo—
ne la homon, ne la personon Lev Tolstoj: li pekis, kelkiam, kiel ĉiuj homoj,—nia
granda gvidanto estas tiu vero-amo, por kies klarigo kaj por kies realigo en la
mcndon li tiom sindone laboris kaj kiun laboron li al ni testamentis.
Li per ĉiuj fortoj de la animo vivis, brulis en tiu laboro, kaj se ni, per niaj
modestaj t'ortoj, samtiel ekbrulus per la flamo de tiu laboro, ni servus kiel li al la
afero de la vero en la mondo.
Kaj en la venko de tiu vero, pri kies klarigo, vastigo, realigo li laboris, en ĝi
kuŝas la solvo de la problemo pri la bono, pri la feliĉo de la tuta homaro kaj de ĉiu
homo aparte.

HOW TO START AND KEEP GOING AN ESPERANTO GROUP

There seems to be a curious delusion abroad that it is impossible to start an
Esperanto Group without having a more or less expert Esperantist at the head of it.
Esperanto is, however, so unlike other languages that it is possible for persons of
the slenderest attainments in the language to commence a group with the knowledge
that in a few months they will be able to read, write, and speak it in a manner
that will be understood by foreigners.
We are all familiar with books which purport to give materials by means of
which a foreign language may be learnt without a master and in a few months.
Although it is possible to acquire quickly considerable preliminary knowledge of
a national language by such text-books, this can only be done by dint of great effort,
and a thorough mastery of a language can only be gained after many years' per-
sistent study and conversational practice with foreigners. In the case of Esperanto,
on the other hand, Esperantists may assert with confidence that it is possible—in
fact, it is continually being done—to acquire merely by self-tuition such mastery of
the language as will enable one to read, write, and speak it with fluency and ease.
A week before the Cambridge Congress a solitary student from a country town
called on me to ask me whether I would advise him to go to the Congress. I was
the first Esperantist to whom he had spoken. In a few minutes he had accustomed
his ear to the language as spoken by me. Of course, I advised him to go to Cam-
bridge. The first day of the Congress I saw him engaged in animated conversation
with a Frenchman, and before the end of that memorable week he was endeavoring
to make a record of the number of nationalities represented among the foreigners to
whom he had spoken.    I think he had managed fifteen.
Preliminaries.
I would recommend anyone desirous of forming an Esperanto group to insert
an advertisement in a local newspaper something to this effect:—"Esperanto.—
Ladies and gentlemen desirous of forming a group for the study of Esperanto are
desired to send their names and addresses to Mr. X. Y." Don't be disappointed if
only two  or three reply.
Arrange to meet in one another's houses at first, if the number is small. A
small number in a hired room requires superhuman enthusiasm to keep up interest.
Study of the Language.
Elect a leader, who will work somewhat in advance of the others, and set the
work to be studied for the future meetings. Let each member write something
English into Esperanto for each meeting, and pass it on to another member of the
group for criticism. We learn much by other people's mistakes as we do from our
own;  and often we can spot other people's mistakes sooner than our own!
Thoroughly study one of the text-books based upon Dr. Zamenhof's Ekzercaro,
which is a law unto the Esperantist. Thorough study of the exercises—learning
them by heart—well repays the student in the long run. Learn the Sixteen Rules,
Plena Gramatiko de Esperanto, by heart, and get into the habit of referring every
difficulty you meet with to these two foundation treatises for solution. Commit to
memory "La Espero," "La Vojo," "Preĝo sub la verda Standardo," and learn the
inner meaning of Esperanto. Several groups open their meetings by singing "La
Espero."

ARTICLE   III   (new) —Relationship   to  U.  E.   A.
Every  member  of this association,  with   the  exception  of  associate  members,  shall  be
also a  member of Univeisala Esperanto-Asocio.     This shall  not,  however,  be  construed  to
imply   any   organic   connection   between   the   two  Associations.
ART IC RE   1V—Me rat ership
(Present   Article   III)
(Add to present Section 2): Continuing membership (not associate), however, in this
Association shall be conditioned upon the incumbent's acceptability for membership in
Univeisala Esperanto-Asocio, under the hitter's own laws: any applicant for member-
ship in XI. E. A. who may prove inaeceptable therefor shall ipso facto be inacceptable for
continued membership (not associate) in this Association, his dues shall be returned to
him in full, as last paid into this Association, and his membership herein (not associate)
shall   be   cancelled.
Section 2. (Add after first section): Rife membership in this Association shall carry
with it life membership in Universala Esperanto-Asocio. Immediately upon receipt of
life membership dues the Treasurer shall forward to the headquarters of V. E. A. the sum
of Sixty ($110) Dollars, as the quota of that organization. (Follow with last sentence of
present  section).

ARTICRE   VI—Committees
(Present Article V)
(Same as now, but insert in Section 5 after "the control of any periodical issued
by or under the auspices of this Association" (changing' semicolon to comma): "subject
to the   limitations   of Article  VII;")
ARTICRE AMI   (new)—Official Organ
Section 1. The official organ of this Association shall be known as Amerika Esperan-
tisto.
Section 2. Its subscription price shall be One ($1.00) per year, except by combina-
tion   Willi   membership  dues  as  hereinafter provided.
Section 3. Its editor shall be appointed by the Executive Committee; otherwise its
editorship  shall   vest  in   the  Committee  on  Publications.
Section 4. The editor of Amerika Esperantisto, or (if none appointed) the Committee
on Publications, shall have full control of the magazine, subject in all cases, however, to
the laws of this Association and the authority of the Executive Committee; and with the
exception that all official news and business of the Association, duly signed by the
Secretary of the Association, or by some other competent officer or member as such, shall
he published  in  the  magazine  without  charge.
Section 5. If at any time the Executive Committee deem that the policy of the editor
is inimical to the best interests of this Association, the said Committee may remove the
editor, with or without warning, and either appoint a new editor at once, or at such
time as it may deem advisable, leaving the organ meanwhile to the control of the Com-
mittee on Publications. Such warning or order of removal shall bear the signature of
at  least   two  members  of the Executive  Committee.
ARTICLE   VIII — Dues
(Present   Article   A*I)
Section 2. Regular members shall pay three dollars 'S3.00) a year, shall (etc. as at
present, hut ending' In comma instead of period, and following with): and shall be en-
titled to receive the official organ of the Association for one year from the date of pay-
ment. Immediately upon receipt: of regular membership dues and issuance of membership
card (as provided in Art. IV, sec. 2) the Secretary shall forward application for member-
ship to the headquarters of Universala Esperanto-Asocio, together with the sum of one
dollar   ($1.00)   as   the  quota   of  that  Association.
Section 3 (new), Associate members shall be such as pay one dollar ($1.00) a year
for the treasury of this Association alone. They shall have a voice in this Association
but no vote; neither shall they be eligible to any office in this Association, either elective
or  appointive.
Section -I (new). Subscribing members shall be such as pay three dollars and a half
($3.50) a year. In addition to the privileges of regular membership in both this Associa-
tion and Universala Esperanto-Asocio. and a year's subscription to the official organ of
this Association, they shall be entitled also to receive ".Esperanto," the official organ of
U. E. A. for one year from the date of payment, immediately upon receipt of subscribing
membership dues and issuance of membership card (as provided in Art. IV. Sec. 2), the
Secretary shall forward application for subscribing membership to the headquarters of
Universala Esperanto-Asocio, together with the sum of two dollars and a half ($2.50) as
the  quota  of  that  Association.
Section 5 (present Sec. 1, deleting present Sec. 3). Sustaining members shall be such
as pay ten dollars ($10.00) a year. They shall be entitled to the rights and privileges of
subscribing members: and their names shall be published in the official organ of this
Association, unless omitted at their own request. Sustaining membership in this Associa-
tion shall carry with it sustaining membership in Universala, Esperanto-Asocio. Imme-
diately upon receipt of sustaining membership dues and issuance of membership card, the
Secretary shall forward application for membership to the headquarters of Universala
Esperanto-Asocio, together with the sum of live dollars ($5.00) as the quota of that
Association.
Section 0 (present Sec. 5). Life members shall be entitled during life to all the
rights and privileges of sustaining members.
